As many of you know the human body is an incredible machine that does some extraordinary things. The crazy thing is that lots of people take lots of their body's processes for granted and only recognize that the body does something when it does not occur. This is the case with the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is such and important body part. This small heart shaped gland is responsible for releasing thyroid hormones which regulate things like your metabolism and heart rate. The good thing is that a hypothyroid can be treated with the use of synthetic hormones to replace the ones that are not being produced by the thyroid gland. Granted there is no true replacement for the way the human body works in nature but it does work.

You may be able to guess that you have a hypothyroid but only a doctor can make that determination by using a number of tests. The knowledge and expertise of a physician is second to none so do not try to bypass the opinion of them.
